 About Pereira Publishing:

Pereira Publishing is a printed music provider with music arrangements or originals for Double Reed Ensembles, Concert Wind Band and other Chamber Music Groups.
Works from several composers mostly in arrangements by João M. Pereira, who also founded the Company in 2014.

Born in Lavradio, Barreiro (Portugal) in April 26th 1972, started his musical studies with 11 years old. He started studying the Clarinet, but after a year, changed to his preferred and natural instrument; the Oboe. Already with the Oboe, he took part of the Municipal Concert Wind Band in Barreiro for several years.

 

All together with his official music studies, started in Setúbal Conservatory and finished in Lisbon National Conservatory, he took his degree in Electronics. After which he was Music teacher in an official school during the year of 1990/91.

 

In 1991, he started his career as a Military Musician in the Portuguese Navy Band after public proofs.

 

While a student, he was founder of the Woodwind Quintet of Setúbal Conservatory, and with it, won the 1st prize in Chamber Music, in the Portuguese Young Musicians Competition. Part of the prize, was to perform concerts all over the country, including Azores Islands.

 

He was founder of the “Orquestra Sinfonia B” as 1st solo oboe and Wind Section coordinator, and took the same functions in the Portuguese Youth Symphony Orchestra where he stayed for 7 years. He was also invited to several orchestras in Lisbon and Azores, especially to the presentation of J.S. Bach Cantatas and Oratorios. He also was oboist for several Chamber Music Groups in the Lisbon area.

 

He is for 10 years now, member of the Portuguese Double Reed Ensemble (Ensemble Palhetas Duplas), and for 5 years, Chairman of the Portuguese Double Reed Association (APPD).

 

For 15 years, he was music teacher in a Concert Wind Band in Porto Salvo, Oeiras, and with that Band and others he was invited to, won several prizes (most of all 1st prizes) in International competitions like Valencia, Vila Franca, Riva Del Garda and Vocklabrucke.

As for Concert Wind Band teaching, he was invited to several Masterclasses that took place in some of the Azorean Islands.

 

He always worked with some of the most important names in the musical area in Portugal and Europe.

 

Since becoming a professional musician, that he always have played with Püchner instruments.

 

Because of the need of the places he has been player and teacher, and for his natural taste, for some years ago, he has developed his skills as an arranger, especially in the Wind Instruments area, and even more in Double Reed music. He has already over 200 arrangements, some of them already Published.

 

In 2014, by his own initiative, he founded this company, Pereira Publishing, whit the main look to Publish and spread worldwide his own arrangements. His name is also found in Bèrben, Novello, Accolade, AVA, June Emerson Wind Music and TrevCo Varner catalogues.

 

Since 2013, he is German student in Goethe Institut Lissabon as an enrichment of his culture and curriculum.

 

Pereira Publishing add its first public contact in the Nordic Woodwind Encounter 2014, that took place in Sweden from 13-17 August 2014.

Pereira Publishing was represented in the 3rd International Congress by AFOES in Zaragoza, Spain, from 26-28 September 2014.

Pereira Publishing will be represented in Lisbon Double Reed Festival, taking place from 1-3 May 2015, as supporting company, providing scores for the Double Reed Closure Concert for the Festival, Händel's "Alexander's Feast", and Seixas "Overture (Suite) in D"

Pereira Publishing will be represented in Lisbon Double Reed Festival, that will occur from 1-3 May 2015.

 

The representation will be in selling and in music performance of published works.
